Route 66 travelers, Burr Ridge, Illinois—that’s where you’ll find the latest Route 66 attraction that has everyone buzzing!  Big Mike here Your Route 66 Travel guide Let me tell you about this brand-new spot in Burr Ridge, Illinois, that’s got folks talkin’! Now, I haven’t had the chance to mosey on over myself just yet, but from what I hear, it’s a real treat, especially for families.

Howdy, Route 66 travelers! It’s your pal Big Mike, comin’ at you from Route 66 Road Relics in Seligman, Arizona. Today, we’re takin’ a detour to a new spot on the Mother Road that’s got everyone excited.

It’s a Route 66 themed playground located in Harvester Park in Burr Ridge, Illinois, not far from where the Mother Road kicks off. Now, this isn’t your average playground, folks. It’s like a mini Route 66 adventure, with different sections showcasing landmarks and attractions from all eight states along the Mother Road.

You’ll find a large climbing tower reminiscent of a famous Chicago landmark in the Illinois section. And if you mosey on over to the Missouri section, you’ll find boulders designed to look like the famous Meramec Caverns.

But here’s the best part: the playground’s layout actually follows the Route 66 path, with a pretend two-lane road surface. There’s a zipline that’ll make you feel like you’re cruisin’ on the interstate, and a tow truck that might bring to mind a certain popular animated movie about Route 66 cough cough Cars cough cough.

They’ve also got replicas of Oklahoma’s Blue Whale and the iconic half-buried cars you’ll find in Texas. And don’t forget New Mexico’s Blue Hole and Arizona’s Wigwam Motel, which are also featured.

The journey ends in California with a simulated surfing area and a large Route 66 sign, perfect for photo opportunities. It sounds like a fantastic way for families to have a blast and learn a bit about the Mother Road.

But wait, there’s more! Harvester Park also has three lighted baseball fields, a soccer field, and another large playground for the kids. For those lookin’ to stay active, there’s a fitness area, along with tennis, basketball, and sand volleyball courts. You’ll also find restrooms, a concession stand, ample parking, and even some nature trails and fishing docks near a pond.

And the best part? It’s reportedly free to enter! So, while I haven’t personally visited yet, Harvester Park in Burr Ridge sounds like a must-see stop on your Route 66 journey.
