Fabulous 40 Motel

On the other side of the Midpoint Café, I stumbled upon another piece of Route 66 history: the Fabulous 40 Motel. This vintage motel oozes with the charm of the Mother Road, and it’s clear that it’s been welcoming travelers for decades. What really caught my eye was the old truck parked out front, with two giant “66” numbers – each one standing a whopping six feet tall, if not more! – proudly displayed in the truck bed. It’s a quirky and eye-catching detail that screams “Route 66” and makes this motel a truly memorable stop. The Fabulous 40s Motel is a reminder of the golden age of road trips and a must-see for anyone wanting to experience the authentic Route 66 vibe.

A GHOST OF ROUTE 66

Venturing off the beaten path in Adrian, I discovered a true hidden gem – a ghost of Route 66’s past. A little ways from the bustling businesses, I stumbled upon an old Phillips 66 gas station, its sign still standing tall and proud. And get this – the gas pumps were still there! It was like stepping back in time. The sign was in surprisingly good shape, too, a testament to someone’s dedication to preserving this piece of history. It was a reminder of the heyday of Route 66, and a testament to the dedication of those who strive to keep the spirit of the Mother Road alive. To whoever is looking after this old station, I offer my sincere thanks. You’re helping to preserve a vital piece of Americana, and ensuring that future generations can experience the magic of Route 66.

A little farther down the road, I encountered a true ghost of Route 66 – a dilapidated gas station that seemed to have been forgotten by time. The gas pumps were long gone, the sign had vanished, and nature was slowly reclaiming the property. Trees stretched their branches towards the building, their leaves rustling like whispers in the wind. It was an eerie sight, yet there was a certain beauty and timelessness to it. It was as if the old station was whispering from the past, “I am still here. Don’t forget about me.” A fascinating reminder of the ever-changing landscape of Route 66, and the importance of cherishing the remnants of its history.
