Azusa is a city located in Los Angeles County, California, and it has a rich history as part of the famous Route 66. The city’s development began in the late 1800s, and it grew as a result of its location along the Southern Pacific Railroad. In the early 20th century, Route 66 was established, passing through Azusa and further contributing to the city’s growth.

  1. Azusa Foothill Drive-In Theatre: This drive-in theater has been a local landmark since the 1961s. This is a nostalgic piece of Route 66 history. The Drive in theatre is gone but the Azusa Pacific University did a nice job of restoring the signs from the Drive in.
  2. Azusa Civic Center
  3. Historic Route 66: Drive along Foothill Boulevard, which was the original alignment of Route 66 in Azusa. You can see some vintage signs and architecture that harken back to the road’s glory days.
  4. Azusa Canyon: While not directly on Route 66, Azusa Canyon offers hiking, camping, and outdoor recreation opportunities. It’s a picturesque area that captures the natural essence of California.
